INDIANAPOLIS — Witnesses told police that “beef” between two men over $100 worth of stolen marijuana led to Bryan Rosa taking a swing at Dewayne Randolph.

But what could’ve been a fistfight instead turned deadly when Randolph responded by pulling out a gun and shooting Rosa, according to witness testimony and surveillance footage recovered by police.

Previous reports detail how the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called out to an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Glenarm Drive on Monday.

At the scene, officers found 20-year-old Bryan Rosa suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Court documents reveal that officers found four 9mm shell casings, bloody clothing, a handgun and two cell phones at the scene of the crime.

Police ended up watching surveillance footage that captured the shooting. Police said Rosa and another man in an orange sweatshirt can be seen arguing in the footage. Rosa ends up taking a swing at the other man who responds by pulling out a handgun and shooting Rosa.

Rosa runs away from the shooter but the man in the orange sweatshirt chases after him. Rosa ends up collapsing near where he lives with family and friends trying to give him medical attention.

The shooter can be seen walking up and leaning over Rosa at one point before he hops in a white GMC Terrain and drives away, court documents detail.

Police spoke to several witnesses and eventually identified Randolph as the man in the orange sweater. Witnesses said the pair had been beefing over $100 worth of stolen marijuana which kicked off the argument that caused Rosa to swing at Randolph.

Witnesses said Rosa did have a gun on him but never drew his weapon. Police said surveillance footage doesn’t show Rosa drawing his gun but does show an object — which police believe to be a gun — falling from his pocket as he’s running away.

One witness said Randolph told his family members, “I’m going to jail,” after the incident.

Police said investigators found photographs posted on Randolphi’s social media where he wearing an orange hoodie that appears similar to the one the shooter is wearing in the surveillance footage.

Randolph was arrested by police on Tuesday where he faces a preliminary charge of murder.
