Firefighters respond to multiple fires on Highway 42 in Livingston Parish
LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Firefighters are responding to reports of multiple woods fires on Highway 42 on Friday afternoon, May 24. According to the Livingston Parish Fire Protection District No. 2, the first of three fires was reported on Highway 42 just before 1 p.m. after igniting from a live power line that was down. Two other fires, one just west of Firetower Road and one just west of that fire, were also reported.
Tangipahoa Parish deputies investigating two drive-by shootings along La. 40 near Loranger
LORANGER — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating two drive-by shooting incidents that took place Saturday in the Loranger area along La. 40. The first drive-by shooting took place around on La. 40 near the intersection of La. 445 around 11:23 p.m. A victim reportedly told deputies that a small red car pulled in front of her and slowed down before a person shot a pistol at her twice from the front passenger seat. After she saw the muzzle flash, the victim fled the area unharmed, deputies said.
Hammond teenager reported missing found safe
HAMMOND, La. (WAFB) - The Hammond Police Department said a teenager reported missing has been found safe. The girl was identified as 16-year-old Larryrielle Ussin. Police said the Ussin was last seen in the Alexander Drive area wearing a gray sweater with plaid shorts. She was found in good health.
Walker man dies of electrocution after trying to move energized powerlines
WALKER - A man was electrocuted and died Thursday after reportedly trying to touch and move active powerlines. The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the scene of Burgess Road Thursday evening. Entergy crews were reportedly working a call for service to address a power outage in the area. A downed powerline was in the area and crews followed the downed line into a nearby wooded area.
