Walnut Hills Hotspot Stages Barbecue Lunch Comeback
Chef Jordan Anthony-Brown is firing The Aperture back up, but this time it is all about smoked meat and the midday crowd. Starting Thursday, the Walnut Hills spot reopens as The Aperture: Barbecue Edition with a soft launch and limited lunch service, a short-term pivot after the restaurant paused full operations at the end of 2025.

What Is The Best Place to Get a Coffee?
In Loveland, we are fortunate enough to have multiple coffee and drink locations within reach; yet, I have found that there is only one that truly takes the cake. Some of us may assume that Mile 42 is the best coffee shop: it is in our town’s square, right next to the bike trail, and the prices are relatively reasonable. However, Mile 42 falls short in their cramminess and lack of sizes. They also have no drive-thru, so there is certainly room for improvement, convenience-wise. While Mile 42 is great, there are most definitely other coffee shops that shine brighter.

New Lunken venue aiming for old glory, but will it have grilled cheese?
For nearly 90 years, Greater Cincinnatians flocked to the Sky Galley restaurant at Lunken Airport to dine, drink and watch airplanes come and go. With work finally underway to restore Lunken's shuttered terminal, Sky Galley will live again, albeit under a yet-to-be revealed name. Developer Guy van Rooyen is aiming for a high-end look and feel for the space, akin to Coppin's and Knowledge, the venues in his Hotel Covington project. "We expect this to be a very high-end facility," he said during a tour of the now-gutted East End building. That was Sky Galley, once upon a time. In 1953, then-owner John "Ollie" Swartz was serving lobster tail, flown in from South Africa, for $2.50 a plate, a Cincinnati Post story reported. When people can finally fly to the moon, the Post predicted, many "are going to enjoy having a last meal before leaving at Sky Galley." In 1958, T-bone steaks and organist Ruth Nagel won attention in an Enquirer story. Of note, part-owner and retired Cincinnati Reds pitcher Rube Bressler employed "10 attractive waitresses" for diners' enjoyment, The Enquirer reported. By 2019, Sky Galley was more of a spot for sandwiches and salads – but still popular enough

The Aperture is back. Well, sort of. Here's the deal
Less than three months after temporarily shuttering his nationally recognized restaurant, The Aperture , chef Jordan Anthony-Brown will reopen it as a barbecue restaurant. At least for a while. And only for lunch. The Aperture: Barbecue Edition will have a soft opening from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (or until sellout) Thursday, March 5, and Friday, March 6. The new concept will not affect the operation of Etxe , the Basque steakhouse that has taken up residency in the Aperture space since it closed on Dec. 31, 2025. According to Etxe co-owner Heather Ashley, they still plan on staying in the Walnut Hills space through the fall of 2026. Starting next week, regular hours for The Aperture: Barbecue Edition will be 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Many Cincinnatians were shocked when Anthony-Brown announced he was temporarily shuttering The Aperture. The restaurant had opened to much fanfare in early 2024. In its short lifetime, it had made the New York Times’ Top 50 Restaurants in the U.S. list and USA Today’s 2025 Restaurants of the Year. Anthony-Brown was also named a semifinalist for the 2025 James Beard Award for Best Emerging Chef. “We have made the difficult but necessary decision to pause our present
