News : V-S FFA Receives Several Honors at Iowa FFA State Convention!
From April 14th through April 16th, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter went to the 96th Annual State FFA Leadership Conference. V-S FFA had over 50 members who went to the conference to participate in numerous contests! All of the members worked extremely hard to prepare for the State Convention, by putting in many hours into applications and practices. On Sunday, the day started by loading up the vans and bus before heading for Ames. As soon as members got to the hotel, they got back on the bus and headed to the Hilton Coliseum to package meals for "Meal from the Heartland". All of the meals packaged will be sent out all over the country to help feed hungry people. Afterward, the chapter headed back to the hotel and practiced for upcoming contests. On Monday, members all got up bright and early to get fueled for the day. Three members participated in Courtesy Corps, Alana Fleming and Andrew Pingenot received their proficiency awards on stage, Annabelle Newton gave her retiring address as a State Officer talking about "Embracing Every Era", Jerry Lee accepted the chapter's Ambassador Award, and then three of the chapter's LDEs were recognized on stage, where they all received 1st Place!! Throughout the day, members had the opportunity to visit the career and college show, enjoy sessions, and watch various competitive events. Following the day, all of our members enjoyed a pizza party sponsored by the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Alumni & Supporters Chapter before they got to work preparing for the next day's events and contests! On the second day, members got another early start to their contests. Andrew Pingenot was recognized for serving on the POA Committee, Juliana Luis carried the chapter's flag during the Grand Ceremony, and Ciara Dods received 1st place winning the Greenhand Quiz Competition! Annabelle Newton recognized her parents on stage for their loving support and endless effort towards her year of service as a state officer and we heard band members Rachel Rollinger, Sam Lundvall, Brody Waters, and Kara Rollinger. Then members Megan Schlitter, Grayce McClintock, Jerry Lee, and Austin Noe all received their Iowa Degrees and for the final time, Annabelle Newton hung up her jacket as the NE State Vice-President. All in all, members had a great convention filled with so many memories and inspiration to continue on their mission to Go Beyond in FFA! Thank you to the awesome chaperones that spent many hours keeping everyone going, the Alumni and Supporters Chapter for their sponsorship, and the advisors for keeping us on time, in-line, well-fed, and positive! Here is an all-inclusive list of the results from State Convention:
