73-year-old Central NY woman dies after being injured in car crash
Westmoreland, N.Y. — A 73-year-old woman who was taken to a hospital after a two-car collision Thursday in Oneida County has died, deputies said. Margaret Dowling, of Waterville, was taken to a hospital after the crash at about 9:54 a.m. Thursday on Route 5 in Westmoreland, Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol said in a Facebook post Monday.

CNY school district unveils new mascot while holding on to history of ‘beloved’ former nickname
A Central New York school district unveiled its new nickname and mascot on Monday. Oriskany, a village in Oneida County about seven miles west of Utica, will now use the nickname, Skyhawks, for its high school sports teams after New York state banned public schools from using all nicknames, mascots and imagery referencing Native American culture.

Woman Dies After Sustaining Critical Injuries from Last Week's Westmoreland Crash
WESTMORELAND, N.Y. -- A woman involved in a car accident on June 6 in Westmoreland succumbed to her injuries. The accident took place on State Route 5 at around 10 a.m. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office said, "Sabrina Potter, age 44, from Rome, N.Y., was operating a 2018 Dodge pickup truck, traveling in an easterly direction on State Route 5 near the intersection of Deans Highway. While traveling east, Potter’s vehicle struck the rear of a 2020 Buick SUV being operated by a Margaret Dowling, age 73, from Waterville, N.Y."
