Chillicothe teen found wandering alone after alleged assault
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Police are investigating an alleged assault on a teenage girl found wandering on North Brownell Street early Tuesday morning. According to the police report, a 17-year-old teen was found near the 100 block of N. Brownell St. around 1:51 a.m., on May 14, claiming she had been assaulted at a nearby residence. The teen reportedly told officers she had left her Vollmar Road home without permission and was picked up by a friend who took her to an unknown address.
Chillicothe teen taken to the ground and arrested for vaping after school
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A routine patrol reportedly turned into a heated encounter when a Chillicothe police officer spotted a teenager vaping after exiting a school bus. The incident occurred near the intersection of Sugar St and Water St. The officer, who was stopped for a school bus, allegedly noticed a teenage male disembarking and beginning to walk westbound on Water St. The teen, the officers said, pulled out a vape device and began using it.

In Chillicothe Petland Inc. received a permit for the demolition of a building near Petland Inc. on Riverside Street. Communications Director for Petlean, Maria Smith, said the building was previously a used appliance warehouse and is in "disrepair." After demolition, the lot will be returned to green space for the time being.

A South Salem man who was reported as missing after leaving his home around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday was found safe and was back at home around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Michael Marler, 64, had not been seen since he left home for work Tuesday morning. Kiwanis brings more accessibility at Tracy Park playground
Portsmouth Kiwanians have been working to make the Tracy Park playground more welcoming to children of all abilities and, last week, cut the ribbon on their latest project. There are hundreds of children in Scioto County with disabilities, some of which might make it unsafe for them to play on a typical playground. But the playground at the heart of Portsmouth’s Tracy Park is now home to accessible swings and play area that will offer more fun for more kids to have together.
