HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) —Many teachers across the Tennessee Valley go above and beyond for their students, and we want to recognize them — with our Education Honor Roll!

This Wednesday we want to introduce you to Willa Wright, a special education teacher at Mt. Carmel Elementary School.

Ms. Wright has spent 20 years in the Madison County School System. As a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom, she wears many hats — all while ensuring her students are in a safe environment.

The school system’s Director of Public Relations Carter Watkins says Wright, “consistently strives to support the diverse needs of all her students. She works closely with the parents, administrators, counselors, and therapists to develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) to set goals for each student, regardless of how small. She ensures her students receive the required services and support to succeed socially, emotionally and academically.”

We visited Wright at the school, and you can watch the entire interview above.
