A MUSICIAN whose career keeps her coming back to Alabama bought a tiny home where she and her husband could finally put down roots.

With new digs in Dixie, Cami and Eric began their adventure into tiny living, but not without making a few major adjustments first.

Originally based in Spokane, Washington, Cami and Eric found themselves flying to Alabama often where Cami's music career is based.

Part of the musical duo The Sweeplings, Cami typically stays with her partner Whitney and his wife when doing shows in Huntsville.

But with the commute weighing on her, it was finally time for her and her husband Eric to buy a place of their own.

The couple made the move with the help of the Home Made Nation show, Tiny House Nation.

A YouTube video of a marathon episode dedicated to artists seeking tiny homes featured the Pacific Northwest couple on the hunt for a small space filled with Southern charm.

Cami's partner Whitney hooked the couple up with his brother Bradley — an Alabama-based real estate agent, who showed them three tiny homes within their $70,000 budget.

Bradley spoke highly of the area and said it's known for being a space town with loads of scientific lore.

He first brought the couple to a property 17 miles outside of Huntsville as they shopped around for a 500-square-foot space.

They walked the property that would later become their home with some anxieties, notably the kitchen's small size.

But at $10,000 under budget, the cozy space was one they couldn't write off so easily.

    DWELLING DETAILS

Originally built as a garage in 1918, the tiny home features a bedroom, living room, bathroom, and kitchen, with most of the rooms blending into one another.

The shared living room and bedroom feature a foldable table in the hallway just a few feet from the bed and the kitchen only came with a mini fridge.

But with a little creativity, the couple managed to revamp the drab corner into a usable cooking space.

Cami and Eric purchased a hot plate where a stove and oven would otherwise be.

They also added a microwave and coffee machine to the barren countertops to improve the kitchen's functionality.

The kitchen has not been as big of an issue as we originally thought.

Leftover money would also allow them to potentially extend the kitchen with the extra bathroom space they have, according to Cami.

Equipped with a large yard, the greenery added an element of serenity to the space, and contributed to the property's overall hominess, according to the couple.

The two settled in and moved intoo the 400-square-foot home within two months.

To have a spot where I get to play music and write and also having a spot for us two where we can get away and be us is great," said Cami.

A couple paid just $50,000 for their dream New England cottage and it came with a hidden place in the loft.

Plus, a tiny home owner with no construction experience spent just $15,000 to build her own space with the help of a 3D program.
