Huntington gets results of housing study

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) – After six months of work, the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Huntington released the results of a city-wide housing study.

The idea was to give leaders and developers an accurate picture of what Huntington needs when it comes to housing. Organizers tell WOWK 13 News with the success the area has had attracting new business, housing needs should urgently be addressed.

“It really is a great problem to have, but if we want to continue to attract people to invest in our area, we need to make sure that those workers who are coming here have homes that they can either buy or rent,” said Tricia Ball, Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The presentation included population and household trends, housing supply analysis and recommended housing strategies.
