Michigan man sentenced to life with mercy for fatally stabbing man at Cabell County convenience store

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) — A Michigan man was sentenced to life in prison with mercy on Wednesday in connection to the stabbing death of a 36-year-old man at a Sheetz in Huntington .

According to Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Spears, Kahmal Dillahunty, of Pontiac, Michigan, will be eligible for parole in 15 years. A jury found him guilty in March for the death of 36-year-old Timothy Stratton, of Huntington.

Dillahunty was accused of stabbing Stratton at the Sheetz location at the corner of 8th Street and 6th Avenue in Huntington on July 3, 2022 .

During a pretrial hearing in July 2022 , Stratton’s family told 13 News that they hoped Dillahunty would be charged and found guilty of first-degree murder.
