HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) — The search continues for the man who is considered a hero to the family of Atayveon “Tay” Thomas.

“We’re not exactly sure who it is, but we would love to thank him,” Tay’s mother Cassie Menshouse says Wednesday evening.

The mystery man pulled Tay and two of his friends from their car after they crashed into a tree in Huntington on Sunday.

Tay says he remembers the stranger was passing by and acted without hesitation. However, the good samaritan has not been identified yet.

“Them boys could have still been trapped in the car you know. If they didn’t have somebody to help get them out,” Menshouse says talking about what her son has been telling her about that night.

As Tay’s family continues to reach out to people who might know who this person is. Menshouse has been by her son’s side in the hospital since the accident and she says he’s staying positive.

“I just want to let y’all know that I’m feeling ten times better in the past two days, that’s for sure,” Tay said in a video taken by his mother.

Menshouse says Tay will have at least 3 hours of physical therapy each day and they’re hopeful for a full recovery.
