A concrete barrier and temporary traffic signals will be placed between Folly Lane (next to Oaks Poultry) and Number 3 Road to reduce traffic to a single lane while work is underway.

A crew from Plum Contracting Inc., of Greensburg, will remove loose rock and install anchors and steel mesh along the hillside. Work in this area also includes milling and overlay of the rock drape and other miscellaneous construction.

This work is scheduled to continue through the middle of May.

Construction work will also take place between Dickey Hill and Soap Hollow roads. Flaggers will direct traffic through the area as workers install a bypass pipe to get ready for bridge work that starts on April 3.

On the bridge work, temporary traffic signals and a concrete barrier will be installed to direct motorists around the work area as workers from Plum Contracting install a pre-cast box culvert.

This work is expected to be completed in mid-June.

As road construction season begins, PennDOT reminds motorists to use caution, obey all traffic signs, signals and flaggers and watch out for construction workers and vehicles.

These two work projects are part of a two-year, $14.5-million overall construction plan by PennDOT to make improvements to 13 miles of Route 403 between Hooversville and Tire Hill. The overall construction project is expected to be completed in November.
