Fans can help pick businesses for downtown sports district
Feel strongly about which local businesses belong in downtown's future sports and entertainment district? There's a survey for that. Driving the news: Ryan Smith, the owner of the Utah Jazz and Mammoth, launched a survey Wednesday asking fans what local shops and restaurants they'd like to see in the upcoming development. Construction on the highly anticipated project is expected to begin next year. What they're saying: "We want a strong LOCAL vibe in addition to iconic brands," Smith said on X. Catch up quick: The Delta Center recently wrapped up its monthslong overhaul of the sports stadium ahead of the Mammoth's 2026-27 season. The upgrades brought in eight new concessions , terrace-style seating, and sky lounges above each sideline. Between the lines: Smith has turned to fans for input before. Shortly after acquiring the Arizona Coyotes in 2024, he launched a survey to help choose the NHL team's new name , drawing about 850,000 responses. 💭 Kim's thought bubble: I'd love to see Fisher Brewery open a second location, along with Taverna for its pizza by the slice and Top Taco for late-night bites.
