    Hawaii baseball maintains winning ways ahead of senior day

    The University of Hawaii baseball team maintained its winning ways on Friday, beating Cal State Fullerton 4-2 in front of a crowd of 3,061 at Les Murakami Stadium.

    Hawaii improved to 36-16 overall and 19-10 in Big West Conference play, winning its 17th game in its last 19 contests.

    In the final outing of his UH career, Randy Abshier got the win with eight innings, allowing three hits, one walk and one run with eight strikeouts. It was the longest outing by a UH starter, and longest for the program since he threw a shutout in 2023.

    Brayden Marx got the save, pitching the entire ninth inning, giving up a run with two walks and a strikeout.

    Offensively, Hawaii scored two runs in the third and sixth innings. Austin Machado had a game-high two hits for UH, while DallasJ Duarte’s double drove in two in the sixth.

    Peyton Jones got the start and too the loss for the Titans (16-37, 7-22 Big West) with five hits and four runs allowed in 5.2 innings.

    Hawaii closes out its regular season with a 4:05 p.m. game against the Titans on Saturday.
