Prep baseball: Riverhawks dig early hole, fall to top seed
It’s never good to give up eight runs in an inning. While it was early in the game, digging a deep hole proved to be too much for the Ridgeline baseball team to overcome as bracket play began in the 4A state baseball tournament at Salt Lake Community College Monday evening. The Riverhawks saw top-seeded Dixie score eight times in the bottom of the first and then made a game of it before falling, 10-8.

Prep boys volleyball: Hawks end season with 3 straight wins; Cats edged in consolation bracket
It was a heartbreaking state tournament opener for the Riverhawks, but they refused to let that put a damper on a strong first season as a sanctioned boys volleyball program. Ridgeline made the most of its time in the consolation bracket as it won back-to-back-to-back matches to place sixth at the 4A State Championships, which came to a conclusion Saturday at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center. Indeed, the fourth-seeded Riverhawks bounced back nicely from Friday’s gut wrenching 25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 15-13 round of 16 setback to eventual semifinalist Timpanogos.

Prep boys tennis: Solid showing for Grizz, Hawks, Wolves at state

Prep boys volleyball: Grizzlies place 3rd in inaugural 4A state tourney
It wasn’t the fairy-tale ending the Grizzlies were hoping for, but it was still a special inaugural season for the Region 11 champions in boys volleyball. Second-seeded Logan could have folded after a heartbreaking five-set loss to No. 3 Pine View in the semifinals of the 4A State Championships, but instead regrouped and swept No. 13 Timpanogos by scores of 25-16, 25-20 in the third-place match on Saturday afternoon at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center.
