Seth Mulder and Midnight Run to play Oct. 5-6 at Hoover Library Theatre
The 2023-24 Hoover Library Theatre season kicks off Thursday and Friday, Oct. 5-6, with Seth Mulder and Midnight Run. The band started in 2015 at the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and is made up of five members who draw from influences that include bluegrass, country and rock and roll. It is led by Mulder, who sings and plays mandolin, but also includes Colton Powers on banjo and harmony vocals, Ben Watlington on guitar, Max Etling on bass and Max Silverstein on fiddle.

Restoration of the Lyric Theatre
Monday night, Norton Dill's gorgeous documentary explores the rich history of this downtown Birmingham landmark and its restoration 100 years later. A little known fact in the world of entertainment is that in the early 1900s, Birmingham, Alabama had one of the top ten theater districts in the country with 27 theaters in the downtown area. The crown jewel was the Lyric Theatre, a vaudeville palace built in 1913. A new documentary from Birmingham filmmaker Norton Dill reveals the story of this magnificent stage from its heyday to the modern day. Restoration: The Life and Stories of the Lyric Theatre premieres Monday night on Alabama Public Television and on the PBS App.
