School bus company loses 2 contracts in Pa. impacting hundreds of workers
An Ohio school bus company has lost contracts with two school districts in Pennsylvania. First Student filed two WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notices with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry informing the state it is closing its facilities at 1812 S. 12th St. in Allentown and 3740 State Route 136, Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County near Greensburg. The facilities will close on June 30 and 253 people will be laid off.
Pittsburgh man accused of kidnapping 12-year-old girl
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A 25-year-old Pittsburgh man is accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl from Pleasant Hills.Dhiran Rai is facing a list of charges in connection with the incident, including simple assault, corruption of minors, kidnapping of a minor, evading arrest or detention on foot, and criminal trespass. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to an apartment on Sunday in Pleasant Hills for a report of a child abduction. The criminal complaint said at the home, officers learned that Rai and the 12-year-old girl were in a sexual relationship. The girl's mother, according to the criminal complaint, obtained an emergency protection from abuse order against the 25-year-old man on behalf of her daughter last month. Rai previously violated the PFA and was charged by Whitehall police. The girl's mother told police, according to the criminal complaint, that she came home on Sunday and found Rai hiding in her daughter's closet. The complaint said the girl's mother tried to stop Rai and her daughter from leaving the apartment but was unsuccessful. Police tracked down Rai a short time later and he was arrested. The 12-year-old girl was returned home to her mom.

PITTSBURGH — AAA is giving drivers in the Pittsburgh area a chance to replace their peeling license plates. Events will be held at the AAA branch offices at Robinson Town Centre (1760 Park Manor Blvd.) on May 15; Monroeville (2725 Mosside Blvd.) on May 29; Greensburg (5142 Route 30) on June 4; and Rochester (300 Adams St.) on June 5. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

New Kensington man charged in high-speed turnpike chase in Somerset County
A New Kensington man was among three people arrested by state police Monday after leading them on a high-speed chase in Somerset County that at one point reached 120 mph. Pharoah Sewell, 20, of New Kensington was charged along with Davontae Clayton, 19, of Belle Vernon and Quamarry Curry of Uniontown with felony weapons violations, receiving stolen property, evidence tampering and drug possession.
