Cleanup event and family fun day held at Jackson Courts in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Community members came together Saturday to host a cleanup and family fun day in Holyoke.

The event took place at the Jackson Courts on the corner of Jackson and Canal Street and featured games, food, prizes and other activities. The clean up ran from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the “Family fun day” which ran through the afternoon.

This event was put together by the Morgan School and Kelly School as a way to bring awareness to the need for keeping the planet clean.

GiGi Northrop, a Library Media Specialist at Morgan Elementary told 22News, “Just really take care of the Earth because it’s the only one that we have. Make it a fun thing, especially for the youth, because they are the future and we’re doing this for them more than anybody else.”

The event’s coordinators also hope to host future clean up days and grow them to include more schools, organizations and volunteers.
