FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A shooting death in the Yukon River community of Russian Mission is being considered a homicide, and one man has been arrested on murder charges. Patrick Changsak, a 46-year-old resident of Russian Mission, reportedly died at his house on Monday, February 5 from gunshot wounds. Alaska State Troopers (AST) received reports from the community that 45-year-old Richard Pitka, also from Russian Mission, had shot Changsak at the house.

A man in Russian Mission has been charged with murder after Alaska State Troopers say he fatally shot a man Monday. Charging documents say 45-year-old Richard Pitka shot 46-year-old Patrick Changsak in the shin at Changsak’s home in Russian Mission, which is about 70 miles northeast of Bethel. Changsak was taken to the village clinic, where he was later pronounced dead.
