Holly Springs leaders have voted to use the city’s remaining federal American Rescue Plan Act funds to complete various projects throughout the city, including roads and stormwater.

The Holly Springs City Council unanimously voted Monday to approve a resolution to use its remaining $2 million in ARPA money to help complete various projects throughout the city.

The city received $5,766,604 in ARPA funding from the U.S. Department of Treasury for the purpose of “government services,” according to city documents.

Half of the $5.7 million was awarded in 2021, and the remaining half was awarded in 2022. The U.S. Treasury issued guidance on how the city can use the funding, with funds having to be obligated by the end of this year, and spent by the end of 2026, according to city documents.

The city plans to use the remaining $2,015,603 for road projects and repairs, stormwater infrastructure and repairs, and public safety operating expenditures, City Manager Rob Logan told the Tribune earlier this month.

“We have spent ARPA funds thus far on public safety and stormwater projects throughout the city of Holly Springs,” he said. “We have to encumber the funds in 2024 for expenditure by 2026.”
