Finalized Tornado Report from Sunday

After surveying the area and analyzing radar data, the National Weather Service has determined two tornadoes touched down Sunday, October 11th around 1:30 p.m. and lasting until 3:00 p.m. The Duplin County tornado was rated as an EF-2 with peak winds of 115 mph. The Jones County tornado was rated as an EF-1 with peak winds of 100 mph.

The NWS says the tornado traveled 3.52 miles, from an area northeast of Pleasant Hill to a location south of Wise Forks. The survey found no deaths or injuries.

Tornado watch has been canceled

The tornado watch for Eastern NC has been cancelled. Isaias is no longer tropical, however its impacts were certainly felt in the East. From about 1:30 p.m. until 3:40 p.m., the National Weather Service issued several tornado warnings for Pender, Duplin, Jones, Lenoir, Craven, Pitt and Beaufort counties. During that time period, two tornadoes were confirmed, one between Teachey and Wallace and the other near Chinquapin. We expect the NWS to send out survey crews to inspect the damage over the next 48 hours.
