PERMIAN BASIN (KMID/KPEJ) – Here are the top stories from around the Basin for the week ending on April 19th.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the suspect, accused of killing a West Odessa man on Monday, as 26-year-old Trevor James Myrick, of Hobbs, New Mexico. DPS also revealed more about the investigation that ended Tuesday afternoon when Myrick was shot and killed by law enforcement in Mertzon. Further investigation into 26-year-old Trevor James Myrick, of Hobbs, New Mexico, revealed an extensive criminal history including, but not limited to, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, and Receiving or Transporting of Stolen Goods. The Midland Police Department is investigating after a stabbing left two people injured and one person dead from a self-inflicted wound on Monday. MPD said one victim was later release from the hospital while another, a 29-year-old woman, was listed in critical condition. You can learn more about this incident here .

Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the 900 block of Maurice Road early Sunday morning, with reports of a semi-truck that was fully engulfed in flames. The City said it took about 2,500 gallons of water to extinguish the flames. You can learn more here .
