Jackson Town Council halts big commercial projects in town limits
JACKSON — The Jackson Town Council has declared an emergency, 120-day moratorium on commercial buildings bigger than 35,000 square feet in response to a growing chorus of criticism of mega-projects viewed as out of step with Jackson’s quaint, Western character. “The downtown core and commercial corridors of the Town have a unique character that comprise the heart of the Town,” states the ordinance imposing the moratorium, enacted Monday night by a unanimous vote. “Changes to that culture and character should be debated and discussed thoughtfully.” ...
