Pittsfield ZBA Member Recognized for 40 Years of Service
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — It's not every day that a citizen is recognized for decades of service to a local board — except for Tuesday. Albert Ingegni III was applauded for four decades of service on the Zoning Board of Appeals during City Council. Mayor Peter Marchetti presented him with a certificate of thanks for his commitment to the community.
Dalton Democratic Town Committee meeting on April 30
Dalton — The Dalton Democratic Town Committee will meet on Tuesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center, 400 Main Street. Guest speakers for the evening will be Sherdyl Fernandez-Aubert from the Berkshire County Regional Planning Council, who will discuss the financial and environmental benefits of a MassSave audit and review the financial incentives available through President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act; Steve Marantz from the Green Dalton Committee who will present suggestions to homeowners before signing work contracts; and Tom Irwin from the Green Dalton Committee who will talk about how his Paint Stewardship initiative will protect homes and the environment at large.
Wahconah Scores 30 Runs in Home Win
DALTON, Mass. – Sammie Kaley went 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs Thursday to lead the Wahconah softball team to a 30-9 win over Mount Greylock. Wahconah made the most of its 11 hits in the five-inning win. It drew 21 walks against four different Mount Greylock pitchers.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Public access channels should be supported and made more available to the public — and not be subject to a charge. More than three dozen community members in-person and online attended the public hearing Wednesday on public access and service from Spectrum/Charter Communications. The session at City Hall was held for residents in Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg and North Adams to express their concerns to Spectrum ahead of another 10-year contract that starts in October.

Monterey residents join ambitious national effort to bring the mighty American chestnut back from functional extinction
Monterey — “You are now all official extension agents of the Granville Research Orchard,” declared John Meiklejohn at a chestnut tree-planting demo and giveaway at the Monterey Community Center on April 20, leading up to both Earth Day and Arbor Day. Many of the two dozen or so attendees had signed up beforehand to receive chestnut seeds to plant at home, courtesy of the orchard where Meiklejohn is a volunteer orchard manager.
