Brewery closes its Hingham taproom, restaurant

HINGHAM – After about a year and a half in operation, Untold Brewery has closed its location at the Derby Street Shops in Hingham.

"While we hoped to extend our lease, fortune was simply not on our side," a post from February on the brewery's Facebook page read.

The brewery's last day at Derby Street was Feb. 29. It operated a taproom there, and it also had a seasonal beer garden on The Green.

Untold was founded in 2017 by Scituate native Matt Elder , who started his brewing career in Seattle.

Untold opened its first location in Scituate in 2017. A second one followed in Hingham in 2022. The Plymouth location, which has more than 65 seats, is the company's third − and largest − property. That location opened in February.
