Columbia Heights seniors take part in signing ceremony
Four Columbia Heights High School seniors were recognized May 2 in a signing ceremony to compete in college sports. Signing were: Hakara Ogul (football, Augsburg), Isabel Hernandez Monroy (track and field/cross country, St. Catherine’s), Melissa Torres (track and field, St. Mary’s), and Ryan Agudo Medina (soccer, University of Northwestern).

When Dominque Pierre-Toussaint was given a chance to become an advocate for breast cancer awareness, he didn’t hesitate to jump in with both feet. “Kris Newcomber and Pat Koppa from the Minnesota Breast Cancer Gaps Project approached me,” says Pierre-Toussaint, “And they explained that they were looking for Black men to discuss breast cancer awareness and help address the disparities in mortality between Black and white women.”

The Huskers kicked off the postseason with their Big Ten quarter-final game against Minnesota on Thursday afternoon.
