Verbal Altercation Leads to Attempted Murder Charges

FRANKLIN TWP. NJ - A New Brunswick man was stabbed near Hamilton Street in Franklin on Sunday night, according to a news release.
Thomas E. Carter of Highland Park was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.
An area hospital called the Franklin Township Police department on Sunday at 8:03pm reporting a victim who sustained a stab wound in Franklin Township.
"The victim, a New Brunswick resident, sustained potential life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery at the hospital," McDonald said in a news release. "Following surgery, the victim was subsequently interviewed by detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit."
