HIBBING—An evening featuring artwork from local students, art activities, along with an international art display is taking place at Lincoln Elementary School in Hibbing.

From 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, an Art Showcase Family Fun Night is being presented by the Lincoln Parent Teacher Association in partnership with the Hibbing Elementary Art Department. There is no admission charge and the public is welcome.

“We feel that this evening will have a positive community impact in making our community feel more connected in this fun and artful space,” Wrote Cassie Liubakka, event organizer and member of the Lincoln PTO wrote in an email earlier this week. “We are also excited to see the students’ pride in sharing their creative talents.”

There are more than 600 pieces of student artwork being featured at the showcase. Art therapy tools, resources and coloring are available.

“Folks can experiment with using scratch art and enjoy 2D and 3D art from third through sixth graders,” Liubakka told the Mesabi Tribune. “There will also be several collaborative artworks for sale.”

Attendees can also take in the Art Beyond Borders traveling exhibit, featuring 24 paintings from the Art Beyond Borders collection.

The Art Beyond Borders Exhibit is brought to Lincoln Elementary in partnership with The International Museum of Twenty-First Century Art and Culture. The traveling display shows significant art cultures from around the world to showcase multiculturalism, Liubakka noted.

“This eye-opening exhibit will change the way your viewers see the world,” it states on a website promoting the exhibit.

Funds raised from the PTO and Hibbing Art Department were used to bring the display to the Lincoln Elementary.
