Hibbing, Rock Ridge compete at St. Francis Invite

ST. FRANCIS—The Hibbing and Rock Ridge High School boys and girls track teams combined to get 11 first-place finishers at the St. Francis Invite held Saturday.

The Bluejacket boys got one first, the Wolverine boys three firsts, the Bluejacket girls four firsts and the Wolverine girls three firsts.

On the boys side, St. Francis won the meet with 142 points, followed by Rock Ridge with 136. Concordia Academy-Roseville was third with 129, followed by Duluth East 116, Hibbing 95, Carlton/Wrenshall 34, Avail Academy 25 and St. Francis JV 10.

Rock Ridge’s Jack Kendall was first in the 3200 with a time of 10:03.48, and Luke Hecimovich placed first in the 300 hurdles in 44.87.

Nolin Cope-Robinson, Leo Johnson, Andrew Wilson and Max Williams combined to place first in the 4x200 in 1:33.72.

For Hibbing, Brady Janezich, Justin Walker, Jake Walli and Jack Bottoms were first in the 4x800 in 9:08.23.

Other top-eight finishers for the Wolverines were as follows:

On the girls side, Concordia Academy-Roseville won with 160 points, followed by St. Francis with 139.5, then the Bluejackets at 123,.5., Duluth East had 120, Rock Ridge 83, Carlton/Wrenshall 37, St. Francis JV 16 and Avail Academy five.

Lizzy Fultz was first in the 100 for Rock Ridge with a time of 13.14.

Kayden Maturi, Addison Youngren, Allison Fink and Fultz were first in the 4x200 in 1:56.12.

Fink placed first in the long jump with a leap of 14-feet-10-inches.

Tara Hertling was first for the Bluejackets in the 800 with a time of 2:26.26. Jocelyn Strukel won the 1600 in 5:23.95.

Brynn Babich, Strukel, Gianna Figueroa and Jorie Anderson won the 4x400 in 4:20.80, and Hertling, Strukel, Mileena Sullivan and Anderson won the 4x800 in 9:59.68.
