Miami lawsuit names jeweler in dispute over luxury goods

A 2024 Miami-Dade County lawsuit filed by Debra Kent, who does business as MightyChic, names Eric Mavachev, who does business as Mavani & Co. and Mavani Miami, LLC, along with R.D. William Whittington, Time Piece Trading, LLC and Neelesh Alwani. The Trellis case listing classifies the matter as a collections-creditor case. The New York Post reports that Kent is seeking $13.8 million in damages.

5 things we are watching in South Florida on Election Day

Tuesday’s elections will determine whether Florida Democrats break almost three decades of Republican control of the governor’s mansion — and will act as a referendum on Donald Trump from his own backyard. Trump has treated Florida as one of his reddest strongholds in a challenging midterm election cycle. But cracks are showing in the Florida coalition that helped send him to the White House in 2024, including in Miami-Dade County. In races to decide a new governor and U.S. senator, will Florida Democrats come back from the dead Tuesday? Will Miami vote Republican? And what will happen with property taxes and education funding? Here’s what we’re watching: Voter turnout and cross-party voters Republicans have a massive voter registration advantage in Florida, and it’s only grown during Trump’s second term. Far more Democrats renounced their party affiliation or switched to Republican than the other way around over the past two years . But those numbers won’t necessarily spell decisive wins for Republicans at the polls. Republicans running statewide have publicly acknowledged that turnout has been lackluster for their party during mail and early voting the past couple weeks, and they need a wave of Republicans to turn up on Election Day
