Umphres tosses no-no against Junction City, Panthers go 1-1
Prep sports action around the state turned into a race against the weather. Friday night in McPherson, the Panther baseball team was helped by some quick innings from Carson Umphres on the mound. Following a 6-3 loss to Salina South, Umphres threw five no-hit innings and strike out nine as Great Bend run-ruled Junction City as the storms arrived.

Lady Panthers win thriller, drop game two against McPherson
Katherine Mazouch was the hero a couple times last year as a freshman on the Lady Panther softball team. She reclaimed her title Friday afternoon in Salina after delivering a game-winning double in the sixth inning. The Lady Panthers held on to beat Salina South 6-5. Great Bend dropped game two to McPherson 6-0.
