Perquimans Pirates baseball, softball teams both win

The Perquimans High School baseball team defeated the Tarboro Vikings on Wednesday, April 10, for the second time in as many nights, 14-4.

Will Rucker had three hits for the Pirates. He was followed by Sean Saunders and Collin Roberts, who had two hits each. The Pirates also knocked in eight runs in the game. Saunders and Jacob Askew each had two RBIs, while Maddux Thach, Ben Brown, Rucker and Evan Conway each had one RBI.

Connor Futrell pitched all five inning for the Pirates, giving up seven hits, four runs, three earned, and six strikeouts on the night.

Perquimans 8, Bear Grass Charter 3The Perquimans softball team defeated Bear Grass Charter 8-3 on Wednesday, April 10, to improve to 13-4.

Kaydee Hunter had three hits for the Pirates, while Lily Winslow and Heather Smith each had two hits.

Addisyn Stallings and Makinzie Stokely combined for the win on the mound. Stallings went 4.2 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks. Stokely went 2.1 innings, giving up only two hits and recording one strikeout.
