Bryant named Mid-East Commission Vice Chair
The Mid-East Commission recently announced the installation of the officers to its Executive Board. Those officers include Charlotte Griffin, Chair (Bear Grass, Martin County); Gloria Bryant, First Vice Chair (Askewville, Bertie County); Dina Harrell, Second Vice Chair (Harrellsville, Hertford County); Kathy Parker, Secretary (Fountain, Pitt County) and Alice Langley, Treasurer (Beaufort County). HCHS captures top honors
ELIZABETH CITY – Hertford County High School male and female student-athletes competed in the 2024 Northeastern Coastal Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet. The event was held May 2 at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City. There, the Hertford County Men’s Track & Field Team finished in first place overall with a combined score of 140 points. The HCHS Women’s Track & Field Team combined their efforts for 71 points, which was good for third place overall.
Two arrested after three-county chase
An armed carjacking that began in Oak City last Saturday evening ended abruptly after a high speed chase through Bertie and Hertford counties.
