Salvage pile catches fire due to metal cutting north of Hermiston
HERMISTON, Ore. - A pile of tires and other pieces of salvage caught fire north of Hermiston Tuesday morning, according to Umatilla County Fire District 1. UCFD1 was sent to the fire on Robnett Street at 11:53 a.m. to find a pile of salvage on fire. Crews went to work to protect the nearby buildings.
Firefighters urge the public to take fire preventive steps leading into fire season
BENTON COUNTY, Wash.- Three fires broke out on Saturday, prompting local officials to ask the public take steps ensure fire readiness. According to Deputy Fire Chief Michael Heffner from the Kennewick Fire Department, firefighters responded to three residential fires. KFD and the Pasco Fire Department assisted Benton County Fire District in putting out a home fire Saturday morning. Although the cause of the fire is believed to be a minor playing with a lighter, the home did not have some alarms.
