One of the few dogs left behind at massive adoption event hopes to find her forever family
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS), hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats are desperately waiting for their forever family. The shelter is overcrowded, and when a dog stays for too long, tough decisions have to be made. Still, staff believe there is a family for every animal, they just need to find them.
1 dead in fire in Louisville's Parkland neighborhood
A person is dead after a fire occurred at a home in Louisville's Parkland neighborhood Thursday, the Louisville Division of Fire said in a statement. Department spokesperson Capt. Tamara Stewart said crews responded to a call about a house fire and possible rescue in the 700 block of South 33rd Street at around 4:19 a.m. and found heavy fire coming from the front and sides of the 1.5-story building. More than two dozen firefighters were called to the scene to put out the fire.
Rain and storm chances pick back up to end the week

Teen connected to LMPD shooting in Louisville's Wilder Park neighborhood in court on drug charges
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 19-year-old linked to a juvenile shot by a Louisville Metro Police officer earlier this week was in court Thursday on drug charges. LMPD investigators said Julian Oyaro was with a 17-year-old murder suspect Tuesday when the 17-year-old was shot by an LMPD officer after he refused to drop a gun. Investigators said Oyaro was there when the incident happened on West Kenton Street.
