Canes girls soccer downs Spooner

The Hayward Hurricanes girls soccer team opened their season with a 2-0 win over the Rails in Spooner Tuesday April 9.

Both of Hayward’s goals came in the first half, as freshman Alivia Beckwith tallied first and then Kelsey Carothers scored.

“It was a slow start for the girls, but they managed to start putting things together in the second half,” said Coach Anne Kriskovich. “Abigail Beckermann, Miya McKay, and Kendra Gunn all had a great game and were a big factor in controlling the tempo.”

On Thursday April 11, the Canes traveled to Somerset, where the host Spartans came away with a 7-0 win.
