Blount County man killed in 2-vehicle crash

BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Hayden man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Blount County on Tuesday night, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Shawn Thomas, 42, was fatally injured when the Nissan Maxima he was driving collided head-on with a Ram 2500. The crash occurred on Alabama 160 about one mile east of Hayden around 9:55 p.m.

Thomas, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ram was transported to UAB’s emergency department in Gardendale for treatment.

Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
