GREENFIELD — As the state faces a crippling housing shortage, many municipalities have been forced to come up with solutions that will work in the long- and short-term. One of those cities, Greenfield, recently received funding from the state’s Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities to conduct a study of its housing needs and existing stock. On Wednesday, residents got the chance to tell officials what they hope to see.

This Memorial Day weekend, the members of Post 152 officially rededicate the Simonds Road headquarters from Richard A. Reuther Post 152 to J. Michael Kennedy Jr. Post 152, in honor of the longtime member who died in May of last year.

Mass. weather: Thunderstorms to bring hail to Berkshire County Tuesday evening
Severe thunderstorms could bring hail and gusty winds to Western Massachusetts Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Franklin County Tuesday afternoon that lasts into the 5 o’clock hour. It predicts wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail during this time. Residents should expect the hail to cause vehicle damage and the wind to damage homes and trees, according to the weather service.
Williamstown voters approve Progress Pride flag display, charter revisions, cottage housing at town meeting
One of the most debated articles on the 42-item warrant was a citizens’ petition to amend town laws to include the Progress Pride flag – a rainbow flag with the addition of black, brown, blue, pink, and white stripes to represent communities of color, the Trans community, and those lost to the HIV/AIDS crisis – among official colors flown by Williamstown.
GCC grads challenged ‘to embrace the spirit of lifelong learning’
GREENFIELD — Dressed in black gowns and green tassels, 115 graduates accepted their degrees at Greenfield Community College Saturday afternoon. Michelle K. Schutt, the 11th president of GCC, kicked off the college’s 61st annual commencement ceremony. She took to the stage, facing a full audience of graduates, along with their friends and families that sat inside of a large white tent.

Stamford man in stable condition after being shot in the head
STAMFORD — A 20-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head on Sunday afternoon in Stamford, prompting a police investigation into the shooting. At around 2:52 p.m., Stamford Police responded to reports of a shooting at 33 Spruce St. Upon arrival, officers discovered Kaysean Manning, a Stamford resident, with a gunshot wound to the side of his head.
