Havelock, North Carolina—Liberty Church is hosting a community baby shower to support parents and caregivers in the Havelock and Craven County communities who need essential baby supplies. Liberty invites church members and the local community to contribute new and gently used items suitable for parents and newborns through two years old.

The community baby shower aims to equip the community’s parents with new and gently used baby and parenting gear, including baby clothes, cribs, strollers, car seats, diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, feeding items, nursing supplies, and more. This event aims to help alleviate financial burdens for families and ensure that every child has access to necessities during their early stages of development. Liberty Church is accepting donations for these items until May 2, 2024.

“There is the saying about ‘It takes a village’ when it comes to children, but there are many in Havelock and nearby that are in this ‘village’ because their orders have placed them here. What better way to reach out to those who are far from home to help them feel a little less alone?” states Kassie Larson, organizer of the event and Head of the women’s ministry at Liberty Church. “Every child is a blessing, and no matter the circumstances, we want to let those in our community know that they aren’t alone and that eastern North Carolina is full of generous
people who want to celebrate with them!”

Donations can be brought to Liberty Church during working hours (Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The shower will take place on May 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the front parking lot of Liberty Church, located at 81 Shepard Street, Havelock, NC 28532.

“We would love to have the help of our community to donate the items that we know any parent or caregiver would utilize. Our church members have been kind to bring donations over the past few months,” says Larson. “This is the second year we have put on this event, and I hope it will continue to grow as we see our community grow. We can’t do everything for everyone, but we can do this, and every small act can make a large impact.”

For those interested in contributing or seeking further information, please contact Kassie Larson at kassie@libertync.org or call Liberty Church at (252) 447-7839.
