HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The newest athletic training center to help athletes practice their baseball and softball skills is now open in downtown Hastings. The Athletic Center opened on Monday and has state of the art equipment to help athletes improve their batting, pitching and other skills related to softball and baseball.

HASTINGS — An active weather pattern begins to establish itself this week, with the chance for strong to severe thunderstorms toward the end of the work week. Tuesday will see cooler temperatures behind a front that will pass through Monday evening. This will lead to breezy north winds that will contribute to near critical fire weather conditions given the low relative humidity.
Hastings Landfill hosts tire recycling event
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Landfill started their tire recycling event on Wednesday to a line of dozens of cars and trucks ready to recycle old tires. The recycling event can take up to 350 tons of used tires. They accept tires up to the size of agricultural tires. Anyone who is dropping off tires must be able to unload the tires. You must be a resident of Adams county in order to recycle tires at the landfill for free under this event.
Grand Island man arrested after stealing thousands of dollars worth of equipment
A Grand Island man faces charges after police said he cut a hole in a garage at a business and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of stereo equipment. Cory Romero, 33, is charged in Hall County Court with burglary, possession of burglar’s tools, criminal mischief ($1,500 to $4,999) and possession or use of drug paraphernalia.

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The newest GPAC Pitcher of the Week comes from Hastings College. James Velasquez takes home the honor for the Broncos. “James Velasquez of Hastings College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week. Velasquez, a junior from Sahuarita, Arizona, tossed a complete-game shutout against Dordt going 7.0 innings giving up just four hits while striking out a career-high 10 in the win over the Defenders. He is now 6-2 on the season with a team leading 60 strikeouts on the year. Velasquez is also ranked No. 2 nationally with an astounding 1.37 ERA.”
