9th Annual Shenandoah Disability Awareness Walk takes place next month
(Shenandoah) -- An annual event to celebrate the abilities of all people takes place early next month in Shenandoah. The Shenandoah Chamber and Industry Association, along with Nishna Productions and the Depot Restaurant, are organizing the 9th Annual Shenandoah Disability Awareness Walk for June 1st, beginning at 11 a.m. Shelly Warner is the SCIA Marketing Director. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Show" program recently, Warner says the walk was created nine years ago as one way for the community to recognize May as Disability Awareness Month.

Weather service confirms 3 twisters in KMAland
(Valley) -- National Weather Service survey teams have identified tornadic activity from Monday night's severe storms. Officials confirm three tornadoes touched down in the region. The first was an EF-1 twister landing 4 miles south-southeast of Glenwood at around 8:48 p.m. and lifting 3 miles south-southwest of Silver City seven minutes later. Traveling for almost 6 miles, the tornado reached speeds of 110 mph, snapping trees at a home on Lucas Road, and cutting a 30 mile swath of downed trees and branches. Officials say a farm was badly damaged along Jagger Road, with a large shed and two large grain bins destroyed. Two farmsteads along Hershey Road were also damaged.
Glenwood police reports pair of warrant arrests
(Glenwood) -- Two Glenwood suspects were arrested on warrants Monday. The Glenwood Police Department says 35-year-old Amanda Elrod was arrested on two Mills County warrants. Mills County head-on wreck kills 1
(Pacific Junction) -- One person was killed, one injured in a head-on collision in Mills County late Friday night. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred on Highway 34 shortly after 11 p.m. Authorities say a 2006 Harley Davison motorcycle ridden by 38-year-old Jacob Otto Saxer of Bellevue was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes between mile markers 1 and 2 when it collided with the front of an eastbound 2019 Kia Niro driven by 25-year-old Leeva Unique Kitchens of Sidney. The patrol describes the accident as a "driver-to-driver" head-on collision.
Red Oak fire, police departments bringing bike rodeo to Inman Elementary
(Red Oak) -- Red Oak elementary students can learn all about bike safety early next week. That's because the Red Oak Fire and Police Departments and several other partners are putting on a Bike Rodeo at Inman Elementary from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through the Fire Prevention and Community Safety Program. Levi Kinnison is a firefighter-paramedic with the fire department. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Show" program recently, Kinnison says the free event promotes bicycle safety and is open to all 3rd through 5th graders.
