After 80 years, missing Alliance WWII soldier remains identified
On March, 14 2024 Sergeant Edward K. Pyle, 31, of Alliance, Ohio has now been accounted for. He served in the Air Force and was killed during World War II. SSgt. Pyle was a member of the 436th Bombardment Squadron during December of 1943. On December 1, 1943, he served as a gunner onboard a bombing mission on a B-24J Liberator bomber the airplane was hit by an anti-aircraft fire. This caused Pyle's plane let wing to burst with flames, and take a dive down while disappearing below the clouds.

Ohio veteran killed in WWII to be laid to rest
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has announced an Ohio man who was killed in combat in 1943 has been accounted for. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Edward K. Pyle of Alliance, OH served in the 7th Bombardment Group of the 436th Bombardment Squadron during the war, and was serving as a gunner aboard a bomber in 1943.
Stark County Hunger Task Force keeps kids connected with backpack food program over the summer
With the end of the school year at the Canton City School District, non-profit organizations such as Stark County Hunger Task Force are stepping up to ensure families who count on food assistance for them and their kids can still get the support they need. The task force provides backpacks filled with food for children whose family’s income is below the poverty line. For the summer it's shifting distribution from schools to other community locations for the summer, according to Executive Director Stephanie Sweany.
Riverfront Irish Festival returns to Cuyahoga Falls this month

It’s easy to look the other way. It happens a lot in the bigger cities. We don’t allow our eyes to fall on the person standing at a highway exit ramp who is holding a sign asking for money. We look down as we pass someone sitting in a store doorway with overstuffed plastic bags that probably contain all their worldly possessions.
