Hartford man sentenced to 45 years for 2020 fatal shooting

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A 28-year-old Hartford resident was sentenced to 45 years in prison on Tuesday for the 2020 fatal shooting of Kwadir Paris.

Yamil Rohena was found guilty on Jan. 12, 2024, of murder, criminal possession of a firearm and in violation of his probation from an assault in 2017.

Hartford police investigate homicide on Martin Street, victim identified

According to court documents, Paris, a 27-year-old Hartford resident, was shot at six times on Jan. 4, 2020, in front of his home on Martin Street.

Prosecutors used video surveillance of the shooting and eyewitnesses to convict Rohena.

The shooting was the first homicide of 2020, according to police.
