Phillips and Chequamegon high schools each celebrated track and field accomplishments at the Rhinelander Invitational on May 9. Chequamegon senior Autumn Michalski was a triple winner of the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 run events, and Phillips senior Hayden Sokolowski won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles to highlight just two star athletes on the day. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Rhinelander of the 6-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on Saturday.
Softball Recap: Tomahawk finds home field redemption against Edgar
There's no place like home for Tomahawk, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They skirted past the Edgar Wildcats 6-4. For Edgar's part, Morgan Streveler put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Streveler has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Streveler was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a double.
