Valley Program for Aging Services celebrates 50 years of service
WAYNESBORO — Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS), the local area agency on aging, is celebrating 50 years of service in communities throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Established in 1974, VPAS is part of a nationwide network of area agencies on aging formed in the years following the passage of the federal Older Americans Act to support healthy aging in place, the agency said in a press release announcing the 50 year anniversary.
Route 42 in Rockingham County blocked due to crash
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A traffic crash closed all northbound and southbound lanes of Harpine Way (Route 42) just north of Harrisonburg Monday morning. According to a Facebook post from Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Communications Center, the crash occurred in the area of Willow Run Road. First responders were on location, although no injuries or other details have been reported.

Nighttime paving to begin on South Main in Harrisonburg this week
HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) –Nighttime milling and paving work will take place on Thursday, May 16 on South Main Street this week. In a social media post, Harrisonburg City officials said the work will be in front of Kline’s Dairy Bar and Subway and will require the closure of both southbound lanes. The road will remain open to through traffic as the southbound traffic will shift to utilize the center turn lane for southbound travel. Traffic controls will be in place.

VERONA - The new CAVA facility in Verona was buzzing with activity around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. College gallery space to transform to art studio during residency this summer
