Trimble, O’Donnell power JMU past Troy 14-10
TROY, Ala. (WHSV) - Fenwick Trimble matched his career high in hits, Brendan O’Donnell hit home run No. 15, and JMU took the first game in the three game series at Troy 14-10. Trimble helped the Dukes jump out to an early lead in the first inning when he launched a two-run home run to centerfield. Trimble finished the night 4 for 5 with three RBI. He finished a triple shy of the cycle.

Grand Slam And More Does In Harrisonburg
The William Monroe Dragons (13-5, 7-3 Valley District) spoiled the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks (3-15, 2-12) senior day game with a 12-2 seven-inning game in Harrisonburg on Monday evening. In a third inning that saw the whole lineup bat, junior Dallas Battaile-Gilbert launched a grand slam into left field that helped increase the Dragons’ lead to eight runs at that point. The Dragons recorded ten hits and one error in the win, and will host Spotswood (14-4, 7-3) tonight.
Suspect charged with Elkton man’s murder certified to Grand Jury
PAGE COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Timothy Thomas Comer, the Page County man accused of murdering another man in Elkton last summer will go before a jury. According to online records, Comer’s case was certified to a Grand Jury during a hearing Thursday afternoon in Page County General District Court. No trial date has been posted as of Thursday evening.

Harrisonburg City Council adopts FY25 budget with potential amendments
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Harrisonburg City Council is one step closer to passing the final budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, albeit with a slight change. The council voted unanimously to adopt the FY25 at their meeting Tuesday night but will not officially pass until their second meeting later this month. While their vote Tuesday night included a proposed eight-cent hike for the city’s property tax, that increase will likely be lowered to five cents by the time City Council passes the budget upon a required second reading.
