A driver was hospitalized after being rescued from their rolled-over vehicle on a busy highway in Westchester.

The rescue happened on Friday, April 26 just before 2 p.m., when a vehicle flipped on its side on Interstate 287 West in Harrison at milepost 6.5, according to the Purchase Fire Department.

Arriving first responders soon found that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle and began stabilizing it. Firefighters then partially removed the roof, allowing the driver to be freed.

After the rescue, the driver was taken to a hospital, the department said.

The crash closed the highway's right lane and delayed traffic on I-287 for around three miles. All lanes were opened by 3:30 p.m., according to New York State Police.
