On March 26, 2020, a baby boy wrapped in an oversized T-shirt was found dead along the banks of Melton Lake near Edgemoor Bridge in Oak Ridge. He was never identified, but Oak Ridge police officers named him Wyatt, meaning "little warrior." Public can comment Tuesday night about plans for natural gas line leading to TVA Kingston plant
East Tennesseans have a chance to comment Tuesday night about plans to build a natural gas pipeline that would provide the fuel one day to TVA's Kingston energy plant. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, will take comment 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kingston Community Center in Kingston. Staff has prepared a draft environment impact statement; the public can address that.
Anderson County Schools meets amid investigation into grade fixing accusations

Elm Grove Park in Oak Ridge to close temporarily for maintenance
The Oak Ridge Recreation & Parks Department will close Elm Grove Park on East Tennessee Avenue for major playground maintenance. The playground is scheduled to be closed from Monday to Thursday, June 17-20 to perform the work. The work will include repairing poured-in-place surfacing, according to a city news release. Oak Ridge council gives final OK to budget, including pay raises and capital improvements
Oak Ridge City Council gave its final approval June 10 to the city government's proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2025, which begins July 1. Under the budget, the property tax rate will remain the same for the fourth straight year. The city property tax rate is $2.3136 per $100 of assessed value. Five years ago the council reduced the city property tax by 24 cents.
