Perry Central archery gears up for historical run at NASP Championship
PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - In the beginning of May, the Perry Central archery team learned they made history. With a 1634 team score in 3-D target shooting at nationals, Perry Central qualified to compete in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Championship for the first time in program history.
County Storm Shelters discussed at Hawesville Council Meeting
The Hawesville City Council met on Tuesday evening, May 14th. Councilman Danny Doyle had brought up the question about storm shelters in Hancock County at the last council meeting. Hawesville Fire Chief Shane Richards researched since then, and reported that there are zero FEMA certified shelters in the county’s response area.
City of Lewisport preparing for Heritage Fest
At the Lewisport City Council meeting on Thursday evening, May 16th, Mayor Chad Gregory announced, “We applied for funding to help with the new water plant. It was $2M in federal funding, from Congressman Guthrie, and we are now in the top tier. Hopefully, later on in the year we’ll find out if we got it.”

Trinity High School President Rob Mullen is stepping down from his leadership position after 25 years. Mullen will continue as president for the 2024-2025 school year before assuming a new role as vice president for mission, with a focus on school fundraising, according to the Trinity High School website. Emergency services respond to Fort Knox after ‘decades old’ hand grenade found
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Emergency services responded to Fort Knox Tuesday morning after a decades-old hand grenade was found. South Knox Street from Spearhead Division Avenue are closed while crews respond. Nearby facilities including Abound Credit Union, Transition Assistance Program, Directorate of Human Resources, and Army Substance Abuse Program have been determined to be a safe distance away.
