Nearly half of families struggle to buy diapers, here’s how you can help
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - NewsChannel 7 is partnering with Portage County United Way and The Babies’ Place for a diaper drive. Between Thursday, May 9 – Thursday, May 16 we’re collecting diapers which you can drop off at locations in Wausau and Stevens Point. Click here for a list of drop-off locations. You can also donate money which allows either The Babies’ Place or the Portage County United Way to buy diapers when their stock runs low. Your small donation can make a big difference in the life of a local child.

Hornets brave harsh wind and rain while on the road
By Ginna Young Traveling to the Northern Bay course in Arkdale, Cadott’s golf program was on the road May 2, playing in less than ideal conditions. Despite that, the squad came away with a score of 368. Freshman Brady Goettl and junior Parker Davis carded the lowest scores of 91, with sophomore Gavin Roscoe right behind, with a 92. Sophomore Collin Kowalczyk followed that with a score of 94 and senior Jordan Peters ended with 103. “The team fought through the wind and rain, and finished in eighth place out of 19 teams,” said coach Scott Christensen. Vacant Shopko in Stevens Point could soon become key piece to revamping downtown area
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - The bids are in and there is only one step left before the city can officially demolish the old Stevens Point Shopko. The bid numbers will come out this week before the city finance meeting. Then the finance committee will decide to either accept or deny a bid. If a bid is accepted, the building could come down next month.

Waupaca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell just short of the Clintonville Truckers by a score of 4-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Waupaca of the 6-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
